Watch Elizabeth and James explore working software live on stage. We’re tooled up, skilled up, and know that the software passes the tests – but we don't know the software. As we explore, we’ll collaborate, share surprises, and steal insights from each other and from the crowd.
In this session, we already have automated tests, test data, an interface, and tools to aid in exploratory testing. The audience will be able to explore along with us from their seats.
We’ll have several different pages that pass all the tests. We’ll pick one each. We’ll explore those artefacts with our tools and our minds, looking for ways that the system surprises us.
We're not just going to be putting a value into a field and black-box testing. We're accessing the code, we're running the tests, we'll change the tests if they're wrong, we're debugging, we're looking at logs, we're opening the browser console. We're going to use all the tools at our disposal. What you're going to see is what it's like to pair with us at our desks. We’ll be describing what we’re thinking as we’re doing it — building on each other’s ideas, expanding and critiquing as we go.
