Over the years, I have interviewed and observed a considerable number of organisations. Many shared confidently that they “do Continuous Delivery”. I’m often suspicious. When asking targeted questions, my suspicion is frequently confirmed. Tooling is in place, but the mindset is lacking, and thus, the benefits are not leveraged. Cutting-edge will not make it without mastering the boring basics that make the difference.
Research confirmed that Continuous Delivery unlocks IT and organisational performance, but most importantly, also reduces stress, burnout, and fatigue, and increases staff satisfaction and retention. However, to leverage those benefits, one needs to understand the principles and ideas behind Continuous Delivery.
The session will cover precisely those principles and ideas most relevant for testing and quality, such as Accountable as a Team for the Delivery Process, Build Quality In, Build on Foundations Known to be Sound, Trust but Verify, Do It More Often When It Hurts, Continuous Testing, and finally the Deployment Pipeline.
