Breaking into the world of conference speaking

Have you ever considered giving a conference talk but felt overcome with fear at the thought of speaking in front of a room full of people? We have all felt this very natural aversion. Even the most seasoned speakers still get those nerves when speaking — but the best know how to channel that energy into their talk. For those who do take the plunge, there are many benefits and rewards, and all speakers will tell you that it is worth it — just ask any of those who keep coming back to this conference.

In this talk, we hope to reduce the perceived gap between the speakers and the audience. We will encourage you to take the next steps to try it yourself if you’ve never spoken in public before, or to improve your speaking technique if you are a novice speaker.

We will cover why and how we like to give a talk, tips on how to find your own story, how to deliver it in an engaging and meaningful way, and how to overcome common mistakes and challenges. We’ll be sharing our own experiences as well as those of other regular conference speakers.
