Learning isn't just an agile value, it's a necessity, how can we learn faster?

“Life moves pretty fast.  If you don’t stop to look around once in a while, you could miss it” - Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

Life does move fast these days, increasingly so and in testing, it’s no exception.  Agile and lean thinking has made quality and testing a whole team concern, increased test automation using developer-oriented tools, blurred roles and more diverse skills is indelibly changing the testing profession.

Whatever your position on the future of testing, what is unquestionable is the need for testers (and anyone else for that matter), to keep learning.

Learning can be fun, but also daunting, frustrating and getting good at something takes a long time, right?!

Tom & Cirilo have been close to testing for many years, but have both had to learn lots of new skills, often outside of testing, in order to keep up-to-date, adaptable and motivated.  This year they have decided to run an experiment in learning - can you shorten the time it takes to learn and become competent at something? The experiment is to demonstrate the progress possible in just 20 hours of dedicated learning.

Taking on learning completely new skills, using theory and expert tips, agile principles and a bucket load of (initial) enthusiasm, join them in a journey of learning new skills.  Follow their joy, pain, blood, sweat and tears as they share everything they’ve learnt and who knows. Just how much do you think it’s possible to learn in 20 hours, come and find out………..they may even attempt to demonstrate what they’ve learnt!!!
