Women and Non-Binary People in Tech Forum
You know the feeling: you've just shared a great insight, no one seems to have heard it, and then a few minutes later, someone else makes the same point, which is received with much enthusiasm. It's a common experience for women and non-binary people in technical spaces. Many of us find that we have shared experiences, including that of being an outsider or not quite fitting in with the culture of the team. This forum is for women and non-binary people to share those experiences, from the hilarious to the horrifying, and learn from each other about what it can mean to find our place in tech.
We'll surface the lived experiences of those in the room through a panel portion and a moderated discussion portion. We know what it's like to be talked over in meetings and to deal with the trickiness of showing emotion in "acceptable" ways. We will have discussion around navigating the politics and culture of a team where you don't necessarily look like the rest of them, and we'll talk about the intersection of other types of diversity with gender diversity.
All are welcome to attend, but those outside the target demographic are encouraged to listen more than they talk.
