Key-Learnings

  • Gender bias in AI is already affecting real products, and real people.
  • Agile teams have the mindset and structure to detect and address bias early.
  • Inclusion must be built into every product decision, not bolted on after.

How Agile Teams can spot, challenge, and reduce Gender bias

Gender equality is still 60+ years away, and AI threatens to accelerate, not close, the gap. With 44% of AI systems showing gender bias and the EU AI Act requiring bias mitigation by August 2026, Product Teams can no longer treat fairness as someone else's problem.

Examples: voice assistants that can't hear women's voices in emergencies. Health apps that ignored menstrual tracking at launch. Hiring algorithms that systematically downrank female candidates. These aren't just tech problems, they're product problems, happening in the products we build every day.

This interactive session is practical. You'll learn and apply the Four Ds Framework: a model showing exactly where gender bias enters AI systems, Data, Design, Deployment, and Decisions, and where your team can intervene.

You'll walk away with:

  • Real-world literacy: How bias actually manifests in products, not just theory
  • The Four Ds Framework: A mental model for spotting bias across your entire product lifecycle
  • Agile-native interventions: Updated Definitions of Done, retrospective bias lens questions, and Product Backlog techniques that make bias detection part of your practice, not a separate compliance burden
  • The Bias Buster Toolkit: Scenario cards and exercises you can run with your team immediately

The result: concrete actions you can take on your next working day.
