Can you design a pipeline with a short enough lead time to be competitive?
Room D5+D6 - Track 6: Continuous Integration & Delivery (CI/CD) Deep Dive
Everyone
Can you design a pipeline with a short enough lead time to be competitive? What testing steps should you include in your Continuous Delivery pipeline? Don’t just string together existing manual processes - use simple, collaborative tools to design something better.
CI/CD pipelines dictate the flow of value through feedback loops and quality gates. The design of pipelines has far-reaching consequences for how value is delivered. Unfortunately the knowledge of what these pipelines do is usually exclusive to the few who implement them.
Since pipelines dictate the flow of value, we need to involve the different stakeholders, and be able to have discussions about pipelines and their design.
Emily Bache created the award-winning(1) card game ‘Pipeline’(2) as a quick and fun way to explore alternatives for a CD pipeline without actually building anything. By centering the game around abstract pipeline steps, instead of specific CI/CD technologies, the game is approachable for different stakeholders of the business. In this 2 hour workshop you will play the Pipeline Game in small groups and learn more about Continuous Delivery. All participants will be able to take a deck of Pipeline Game cards away with them.
