Key-Learnings

  • Introduction to the psychology behind design
  • Gain familiarity with commonly used design tools
  • Learn best practices for use of color, spacing, and font to convey tone and mood
  • Apply techniques to visualize data
  • Explore how image can communicate meaning

Do you marvel at slide decks people create? Or wonder how people make informative and beautiful infographics or meaningful data visualizations? Visual communication is half science, half art, and entirely confusing if you haven’t learned the principles and techniques designers use to do it well. Colors, images, text, and white space all work together to communicate complex topics and ideas.

In this dynamic workshop you’ll gain the foundational knowledge designers use in their daily work. Become familiar with color theory, tone, and mood and gain insights into visual metaphor to convey meaning without words. We’ll also explore how using spacing and visual organization can be used to prevent cognitive overload.  Join me to get hands-on experience with the psychology behind great design to enhance your communication.
