Potter Syndrome

Do we suffer from Impostor syndrome?!

Impostor syndrome is defined as a psychological pattern in which individuals doubt their accomplishments and has a fear of being exposed. Despite external evidence of their competence, those experiencing this phenomenon remain convinced that they do not deserve praises or all the things they have achieved and incorrectly attribute their success to luck.

Seen or read Harry Potter questioning his skills or giving credits to his wand after a big fight with Voldy!!

Or as a tester, ever felt after finding a few Bugs that it was just a stroke of luck.

Many of us cannot account for this behavior but you are not the only one if you have felt like this anytime in your life. It is true that many of us don’t feel this constantly but it is estimated that 70% of people experience impostor syndrome at some point in their lives.

Join me if you are keen to know more about such examples. How can we learn from these to boost our confidence, stop self-doubting and overcome the impostor syndrome?
